A fresh new welcome space for Abbeyfield House in Giffnock celebrated with a tea party
Abbeyfield Scotland, the charity that provides independent living with support for older people across Scotland, held a celebration at their house in Giffnock in the south side of Glasgow to mark the completion of an interiors upgrade project.
Lesley Baird, Chief Executive of TPAS Scotland – Scotland’s national tenant and landlord participation advisory service – joined residents, guests, local staff and the Abbeyfield Scotland team to officially cut the ribbon on the newly refurbished reception and entrance area.
Commenting on the event, Lesley Baird, Chief Executive of TPAS Scotland said: “Abbeyfield Scotland takes resident involvement very seriously. Residents were involved in the new look of their house. It’s great to be invited to cut the ribbon, I am honoured. Giffnock was the first house I visited when TPAS were working with Abbeyfield Scotland to develop their resident involvement strategy. It’s great to be back & see the results of resident participation.”
Carolynn Malone, Service Manager for Abbeyfield Scotland said: “It was great to welcome Lesley to help us mark the completion of the interiors project in Giffnock. This investment in the house shows our commitment to ensuring that our residents have an environment which is not only practical but homely. We are all delighted with the end result!”
The interiors project includes a new welcoming entrance and hallway. The concept and design was by Alison Harding from AMW Designs and the work was carried out by S & D Developments based in Glasgow.
Commenting on the design process, Alison Harding from AMW Designs said: “This has been a great project to be involved with. My aim was to bring a cohesive and identifiable ‘look’ across the houses to create a warm, welcoming image of the house.”
