EAC National Gold Award for Abbeyfield House, Greenock!

The EAC Housing for Older People Awards main event to announce the winners of National Awards was held at the Sheridan Suite in Manchester on the 21 May 2019.  With Abbeyfield House, Greenock winning a regional gold award, Linda Murdoch, Area Supervisor and Julie Shaw, House Supervisor attended the event and scooped the National Gold Award for Best UK Retirement Housing schemes under 25 units.

This year a record of 18,990 residents, staff and visitors took part in the nomination process which lead to 299 regional awards and 27 national awards. The regional winners were announced on 11 March 2019, while the 27 national winners had to wait for the main event to learn if they had won a bronze, silver or a gold award.

On 21st May 2019 we celebrated these successful examples of later life housing in the company of 390 guests including residents of the winning housing schemes and developments.

To the organisers’ surprise, the regional winners represented at the Awards outnumbered the national winners.

The event, opened by the Lord Mayor of Manchester, graced by Jennie Bond and entertained by Mrs Barbara Nice was a great success.

Congratulations to the staff, residents and volunteers at our house in Greenock!
