Mad Hatters on the loose in Lockerbie!
A number of Lockerbie residents recently fell down a rabbit hole and found themselves part of a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Parklea House, Lockerbie!
A total of 14 people, including staff and residents, took part in a competition to be judged for best hat. The hats were deemed a high quality and were either home made or ‘upcyled’ from carefully chosen charity shop purchases.
Two community nurses were invited to judge the competition and Mrs Margaret Pringle, resident, was announced as the winner and received a box of chocolates as her prize. Her hat was styled in the fashion of an Easter bonnet. Another hat which particularly stood out belonged to Mr Brian Muir, resident, who had decorated his hat with buttons in the style of a Pearly King!
A buffet lunch was served and the Mad Hatters were also treated to Mojito cocktails, mixed by House Supervisor, Liz Guthrie. Both buffet and cocktails are said to have been well received, and no doubt produced grins the size of the Cheshire Cat’s!
The tea party was such a success that the house now plans to introduce it as an annual event.
