Abbeyfield Scotland upgrades telecare system for residents across houses
We have invested in the upgrade of our existing telecare system for all residents across our houses. The new system, provided by Tynetec, provides a simple, but reliable way for residents to call for assistance in an emergency.
All the residents and house teams have been shown how to use the equipment which is a simple personal pendant device which can be worn on the wrist or around the neck, as well as a table top unit. By pressing the red button located on the unit or pendant, a signal will be sent to a 24 hour monitoring centre.
Once the call is activated the resident can speak to the monitoring centre using the built in speaker phone. The team at the centre will then begin any appropriate action that may be required to help the resident. Some residents across the houses have also been supplied with additional equipment including a fall detector and bed sensor.

We’ve been impressed by this new telecare system and it has been well received by our residents who particularly like the ease of use and the flexibility to wear the pendant to suit them.”
Mrs Fraser, a resident from Abbeyfield House in Killearn said: “This new system is really good. It’s very easy to use and I don’t even notice that I am wearing the device, but it gives me peace of mind to know that when I need it, someone will be there to help me.”
Tynetec were awarded the contract following a tender process.
