Yvie Burnett celebrates refurbished house with residents at Abbeyfield House in Turriff

Abbeyfield Scotland, the charity that provides independent living with support for older people across Scotland, held a celebration at their house in Turriff, Aberdeenshire with guest of honour Yvie Burnett to mark the completion of an interiors upgrade project.

Yvie Burnett, the Aberdeen born journalist and voice-coach joined residents, guests, house staff and the Abbeyfield Scotland team to officially cut the ribbon in the newly refurbished home. Yvie has local connections to the house in Turriff and is a regular visitor.

Commenting on the event, Yvie Burnett said: “As a local Aberdeen lass it is my honour to officially open the refurbished house in Turriff. I am impressed with the results and having chatted to the residents and the staff I know that they were involved in the project. They tell me they all like how it has turned out!”

Karen Barr, Chief Executive of Abbeyfield Scotland said: “It was wonderful to welcome Yvie to help us mark the completion of the interiors project in Turriff. This investment in the house shows our commitment to ensuring that our residents have an environment which is not only practical but homely. We enjoyed Yvie’s company and listening to her glorious voice in a sing song with the residents.”

The refurbishment programme included the welcome hall area and communal living spaces. The interiors design was by Alison Harding from AMW Designs to modernise and enhance the entrance and communal space after essential fire protection works to the entrance.
