I grew up in Edinburgh. I enjoyed school and from as early as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher.
I took a teaching post in Kuwait and taught there for four years. It was mostly British and American children. After I got married I taught in Cheshire until we moved up to Glasgow and I took a Headmistress post in Glasgow. I loved that I was given a new school with eager, young teachers.
Later as I was living in a small village in Stirlingshire I moved over to Special Education. I visited other schools each week helping children who were not reaching their full potential. It was very hard working and but very rewarding.
I also spent a year in Vancouver in Canada teaching children with no English. This was a fabulous time. I taught a great deal with puppets!
Living at Abbeyfield is just like living at home. It is independent living with a safety net. You live your own life but there is always help and care if the situation calls for it. My favourite activity at the house is taking part in the News Review.
